Licence and Professional Membership

As a condition of employment and continued employment for all professions, you are required to provide proof of licensure or registration with the approved Alberta regulatory college prior to your start date.

This applies to:

• Regulated health professions under the Alberta Health Professions Act and Health Disciplines Act.
• Other professions governed by government acts and college or regulatory body requirements may be required to provide additional documentation.

IMPORTANT:

AHS cannot accept a license/practice permit if your name is incorrect or the permit has expired. Please contact your Professional Regulatory College and obtain a new permit prior to your start with AHS if:

• Your name is spelled incorrectly on your permit.
• Your name has changed due to a life event (marriage, divorce) and is not accurate on your permit.
• Your license/practice permit has expired.

For your new position, you will need to upload a copy through our online onboarding system.

Certification (BLS-HCP)

If your new position requires you to have current certification for Basic Life Support - Health Care Provider Level (BLS-HCP), you will need to upload a copy through our online onboarding system (instructions provided in the system). An annual renewal program is offered to all employees who work in positions with this requirement. To participate in the AHS renewal program, your BLS certification must be provided by Heart and Stroke.
