Acute Geriatric Unit

Provides inpatient services for older adults with multiple or complex medical problems and helps them to become independent again.

Offers assessments and treatments (including rehabilitation) to help older adults with medical problems become independent again. Clients are admitted for an average of 4 weeks. Families are encouraged to be part of the care planning process.

cardiologists, dietitians, doctors, gastrointestinal specialists, geriatricians, internal medicine specialists, neurologists, occupational therapists, orthopedic surgeons, pharmacists, physical therapists (PTs), psychiatrists, registered nurses (RNs), social workers, urologists
Eligibility

Older adults meeting program criteria including:

  • acute medical issues and geriatric syndromes
  • require rehabilitation to meet goal of returning home
Service Access

Consults for admission available to inpatients and can be made by most responsible health professional to a geriatric medicine specialist.
