Intensive Palliative Care Unit

Provides tertiary level, short stay palliative care for patients with complex palliative or symptom needs.

Provides symptom management so patients can be discharged to the most appropriate setting for ongoing palliative care such as home or hospice.

Eligibility

Patients must have complex symptoms or distress requiring intensive care and follow through.

Service Access

Referrals can be made by phoning the nurse or attending palliative doctor.


Wait Times

Patients can be admitted through the FMC Emergency Room.

Patients not routinely accepted directly but can be put on a direct admission waitlist by the MRP contacting Unit 47 directly.
