Neonatal Intensive Care Program (NICU)

Highly specialized units with advanced medical technology which provides comprehensive 24 hour care for critically ill newborns and their families.

The Stollery David Schiff NICU, at the Walter C. Mackenzie Health Sciences Centre campus, provides surgical care to newborn babies.

The Stollery RAH NICU, located at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) level 2/3 unit that specializes in the care of very premature infants.

The Stollery NICU at the Sturgeon is a level 2 unit.

Newborns in need of stabilization or urgent diagnosis and care within the Edmonton zone and Northern Alberta may be transferred to NICU via the NICU Transport Team (ground or air transport).
