FAST: Facilitated Access to Specialized Treatment

FAST is designed to improve the surgical referral and consultation process so surgeons can triage patients efficiently and improve patients’ access to surgeries.

The FAST team will:

Check referrals for completeness and accuracy before sending to you. This helps you triage the patient appropriately and prevents you/your staff from having to request missing information from the referring provider.
Be available via telephone and email Monday to Friday to answer referral questions.
Share data to identify the next-available surgeon and report on surgical wait times.

When FAST is ready to expand into a new specialty, impacted surgeons will receive an email package inviting them to participate. If your specialty has already joined FAST, email abfast@ahs.ca to receive the invitation package.
